My comments on tutoring Calculus I : Taught AP Calculus AB for three years. 40% of my students scored a "5" on the AP Exam.

I have a calm, amiable personality and achieve results by being enthusiastic and building up students so that they feel good about their math abilities. I like to explain math concepts via visual aids (graphs, pictures, charts, diagrams) and an extensive number of examples.
I taught advanced high school mathematics at McKinney Christian Academy for five years (2005 - 2010). This involved the following classes: AP Calculus AB, Honors PreCalculus, and Advanced Algebra II. In addition, I have tutored students for the PSAT Math, ACT Math, SAT Math, SAT-1 Math, and SAT-2 Math.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have five children of my own and spend many hours helping them with school work. I have found that patience and repetition in many cases are very good paths to success. I do not believe in becoming frustrated with children that do not understand as it only raises their frustration level as well. I also think that using real world examples while teaching is key to helping them understand. I am able to bring these examples to the table having many years of experience working outside of a teaching environment with real projects.
I have a few years experience teaching in the Air Force. I also have an extensive background in engineering, statistics and math in general. During the attainment of my undergraduate degree, I conducted research under my professor, Dr. Greg Powell. Throughout the research, I gathered many skills one being creative in learning, as well as, presenting new material and teaching it to fellow peers and professors.
