My comments on tutoring Elementary Math : I am in the process of becoming an elementary school teacher, therefore I am familiar with the lesson plans within K-5th grade.

I would say my teaching style is really focused on the student and what they need. In school I was an average student never getting lower than a C or higher than in an A. So I really want to focus on listening to the student, especially because they probably are not heard at school. I want to make each subject interesting to the student, whether that means going out and playing basketball or chess or candy or anything the student absolutely loves. I want to attach each subject to a good memory, I don't want to pressure them or push them to just memorize facts that I know they will probably forget after they are tested. From my own personal experience I want any student I tutor to turn around and actually enjoy learning about a subject they are having trouble with.

Trained in common core and collaboration techniques, including "close reading". Was private tutor in mid 1990's while teaching at a Christian school. Sometimes a small group setting hinders, rather than helps a child's success at school. Open to one on one or group setting, depending on the needs of the child.
