It is important to teach children with appropriate strategies and techniques to maximize their success. I use visual aids to make the lesson interesting. As seen from above, I have valid tutoring experience in both middle grades and HS. I was in the student teaching program at Wake Forest and upon graduation, I was a substitute teacher in the Winston-Salem, Forsyth County School system. I also participated in the Junior Achievement program in the Piedmont NC region for over 5 years. I am currently a tutor with the "No Child Left Behind Program." I am a disciplinarian. I teach with the assumption that everyone can learn anything. At the core of my teaching philosophy is the mental model or concept. Consequently, my first goal is to determine if the student has a mental model of the subject matter. If not, I will guide them in discovering a useful one using their existing models and their preferred input mode (tactile, visual, etc.). If a student does have a mental model then I will test its accuracy using the standard procedures approved and or recommended by the institution of enrollment. Further encounters are then simply for reinforcement until the student is confident.
