I love teaching and interacting with students of all ages and ability levels. I believe that each person is unique and receives information in a unique way. Tutoring should be a joint process of discovering a student's learning style and tailoring information so that the student is able to learn and thrive. In my opinion, teaching should focus on the individual strengths of the learner and not just their challenges. The student should learn to use their strengths to not only overcome their challenges, but also to fall in love with learning and gain self confidence.

I believe that learning through hands-on experience is the best way to fully comprehend material. I want to interest students in academics. To accomplish this, a teacher must show how math, or reading is useful; how anything can be exciting. I want to make learning fun. And I use a variety of tactics to accomplish this.
I recently graduated from Bard College, a selective liberal arts school in New York. I have taken classes in a variety of subjects including biology, french, history, and writing. I recently completed a 90 page thesis. I have excellent critical thinking and writing skills, which have served me well as a student. As a tutor, I strive to engage my students in thinking complexly about the topic at hand. I have experience tutoring middle school aged children in music, math, and writing. I also have experience working with preschool aged children.
