A Little Bit About Me...

As a holder of a Bachelor's in Social Work, I have a great deal of experience mentoring and tutoring students of various ages and abilities. I have worked with adult learners and high school age students with disabilities. I have a strong background in English and Grammar due to an extensive amount of college level paper writing. I maintained a 3.8 GPA throughout my college years. I am experienced in tutoring in English composition and writing skills, psychology, sociology, social work and human services courses, theatre and arts, and basic chemistry.

I recently graduated from Bard College, a selective liberal arts school in New York. I have taken classes in a variety of subjects including biology, french, history, and writing. I recently completed a 90 page thesis. I have excellent critical thinking and writing skills, which have served me well as a student. As a tutor, I strive to engage my students in thinking complexly about the topic at hand. I have experience tutoring middle school aged children in music, math, and writing. I also have experience working with preschool aged children.
I believe that learning through hands-on experience is the best way to fully comprehend material. I want to interest students in academics. To accomplish this, a teacher must show how math, or reading is useful; how anything can be exciting. I want to make learning fun. And I use a variety of tactics to accomplish this.
