A Little Bit About Me...

I have had an opportunity to teach in several different locations and age groups. I first taught in a low income preschool where I focused on making children excited to learn through presenting the material in an interesting manor. Next, I spent two semesters in college working as a general chemistry lab instructor. I used the scientific method to have the students reach conclusions on their own and to have to present and explain these conclusions to their peers. I believe all children want to learn. Sometimes it takes some work to find the spark that ignites the learning process. Unfortunately, a larger classroom may not be the best environment to find that spark in some kids. I've been successful with both children and adults because I have a knack for finding out what motivates them. Once I know something about how a student thinks, I can better come up with concepts that will help her or him understand the subject.
I've been teaching since I was an 18-year-old Navy Hospital Corpsman in the 1970's.
