After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in English, I married and worked at support jobs while helping to raise our two children. Upon finding myself a single parent, I decided to return to school and pursue my passion for learning and working with children by obtaining my Masters in Special Education. I have since had the opportunity to work with general education students while teaching Middle School English.. From there I have worked with alternative, at-risk students, emotionally disturbed students and physically disabled students. In the past 28 years I have enjoyed watching the young kindergarten student grow and learn. I believe that all children can learn, but as adults we have to allow them to learn at their pace. Each child learns in different ways, some by seeing, some by example, and some by doing. I believe I set a good example for learning because I learn something new every day and sometimes from the very children I teach. Discipline should be positive and directed at the behavior not the child. I have a very calm teaching manor and believe that helps children stay calm. I really enjoy helping children and teenagers discover new things through education. I am the oldest of five children and I have helped my siblings in practically every subject area over the last 10 years. I am a very patient because I know that everyone has different learning styles. Once a child's learning method is identified, he or she will really start to meet their potential. I graduated in 2007 from the University of Arkanas with a degree in Political Science. Currently I am a legislative analyst for the state of Arkansas and work daily with legislators to pass legislation.
