A Little Bit About Me...

My approach when teaching children is child centered. The activities I provde are needs driven and geared toward the child experiencing success as he works to increse skills in the target area. I teach the child to use strategies which will help him in the area of organization and learning. When appropriate, I encourage the child to use calming techniques or engage the child in activities to promote alertness, the assist the child in focusing on the activity at hand.
I have taught pre-school and elementary school in Canada and in the USA. I have taught French K-8. I have worked with adults with disabilities in a habiliitation setting. I have worked as a COTA in the school districts where I provided OT services for students with disabilities, aged 4-21.

A Little Bit About Me...

I work with students of various backgrounds, aging from pre teen to retirement age, many with learning disabilities, many who are also ahead of their peers. I have a resource room and lesson plans for each group of students seperated by subject. I help them with Math, time management and note taking. I work closely with other administrative staff and allow students to discover their potential.

I like explain the problem to the students and then let them work on few problems on their own. I would then correct the problems that the students were working on and ask if they need any questions. If the students have questions or if they did not get the right answer I would then go over the problems together with the students and have them practice until they have the strategy down.

A Little Bit About Me...

I began my teaching career at a small elementary school in Maine. While there I worked with students ranging from ages five to fifteen. Some of my more memorable experiences were working with second and third grade students who required reading interventions. I also had the chance to work with junior high students in more traditional reading and writing groups. During each of my four semesters as a graduate student at UMaine I have been responsible for teaching one section of college composition. A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout high school and college, I have tutored peers and younger students in both math and physics several times, occasionally for pay. Last year I was a course assistant for a college freshman-year math course in theoretical math at Harvard University. I am enrolling in a PhD program in pure math at the University of Texas, Austin, where I will have a 16-hour-per week teaching load including three sections of undergraduate calculus.
