I believe in the "practice makes perfect" approach, especially when it comes to math, science, and language study. That said, I also believe that practice can be interesting, fun, encouraging and reinforcing. I would hope to help a student figure out how to learn and approach new challenges with confidence and enthusiasm. Sometimes what a child needs most is to simply understand that he or she is capable of achieving. Instilling self-affirmation is an extremely important part of teaching, and that would be my goal in working with your child.

As a recent student, I am very familiar with what it feels like to be in the position a lot of the students are in right now. At the same time, I understand the best method about how to approach understanding the material in the easiest manner possible. The key is patience and practice. I firmly believe the best way to teach is to attempt many examples, rather than strictly lecture. If a student can see the pattern inherent in many of these problems, it makes understanding the initial concepts much easier. A Little Bit About Me...

I received a technology degree in 1975. Several years later I returned to college to persue a Physics/Mechanical Engineering Degree from SUNY New Paltz and RPI. I was an "A" student in Physics and enjoyed tutoring many classmates. I was a guest lecturer several times at RPI. Due to work and family commitments I did not complete the degree. My wife and I homeschooled our children through the primary grades. I taught sciences. While an Employee at IBM, I wrote and taight technical courses. Physics is my forte and I love talking about and teaching the subject. I am especially helpfull to students challenged by word problems. Throughout college I would host study groups in Physics and Chemistry. I currently am a financial advisor.
