A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from Trinity College of Florida. I went on to pursue a Master’s of Arts degree in Intercultural Studies from Alliance Theological Seminary. Both of these degrees have equipped me for ministry, which is my passion. I also pursued a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language, which I received through the University of Cambridge. I have taught in churches for over ten years, often working with underprivileged youth. My experience in ESOL began when I taught conversational English in Chiang Mai, Thailand over the summer. I taught ESL as a volunteer during my Master’s Program at a church in New Jersey, and most recently I have started private tutoring.
I believe I am an effective teacher because I always prepare thoroughly for whatever I will teach, and I use a variety of means in teaching, in order to engage st ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My best trait as a tutor is that I will not give up on my student, even if they have given up on themselves. It is my belief that most concepts can be understood if taught properly, and relate the knowledge to them in a way that would make it simple. Through my experiences with my children I have acquired personal satisfaction from teaching. It is definitely very rewarding to see them gain confidence and understand a concept, especially after seeing them struggle with it.
I have a good understanding in math and its applications. I do not have formal tutoring experience as an adult, but have taken a break from my career in business to stay home and take care of my children, currently 5 and 7 years old. I have helped my daughter with most of her math concepts and homework and she is one of the best in her class, and I have helped both with their English and Spanish vocabulary an ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have my professional certification in Elementary K-6 and Physical Education K-12. I recently taught Kindergarten and I have more than 30 years experience working with children of all ages. Along with teaching I have twice owned my own school and been the Director of many schools and summer camps. My strength has always been teaching Mathematics and I am taking the certification test next week.
One of my gifts with working with children has always been the ability to relate well with them. I know what motivates children and have always shown patience and understanding. I have always tried to have children learn while having fun and try to give them multiple experiences because not all children learn in the same way.

A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching and/or training has always been a highlight in my life. After graduation, I accepted a position as an Adult Education Specialist; counseling and interacting with adults (18-65) returning to school for their GED's. I have worked in a variety of settings including open school, individualized, and classroom instruction. Some students need a more independent approach. Other students require much more supervision while still others respond to a positive blend of the two. Most importantly, self-discovery is the keystone to inspired learning and it allows students to stay motivated. I believe that being the facilitator is my method of choice carefully blending styles that can make the difference in learning key concepts.
I am applying for the position that you advertised online for Tutors in Math and Science. Given my education and work experience, I would be an ideal match for ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I discovered my love for teaching and working with children in the Dominican Republic while on an alternative spring break working with at-risk youth living on the streets of the city of Santiago. With this experience I learned that one of the most important thing in the world is education, and I began my life as an educator. With tutoring I try to implement a facilitated teaching method that involves students pushing themselves to learn. As far as my teaching style goes, I think it is the role of the student to want to learn, and if they are struggling with this concept I work to motivate them to understand the necessity and great opportunities that education provides.
I graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a degree in biology and chemistry minor. I finished with honors, while in the honors program and Phi Eta Sigma honor society and the Golden Key honor society. Thro ... read more
