My job is to find the method that will best enable students to self-actualize their learning. A success is converting the child's approach and passion for learning. If I helped to change the child's mind about learning, I have literally altered the course of his/her life in a positive way. I have a versatile background that began with two business degrees and progressed to a professional career in purchasing and sales. I began my teaching career while obtaining my Master's degree at the U of Iowa. I taught the entry Business Administration course as part of my graduate program. This included grading, testing, actvities, and coaching students. Once employed in the corporate world, I continued teaching within my corporate position, as well as in adult education settings with Indiana Wesleyan, Univesity of Indianapolis, and Indiana Tech. I expanded my role from adjunct faculty to part-time consultant by helping them development their Information Technology program. Even though I have been very active in the performing arts, teaching is my primary passion. I received a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Music from the College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati. However, I completed a Ph.D. in Education at the University of Florida in 1990. I was a full-time special needs teacher at Oak Park School in Sarasota, Florida from 1998 until 2006. I was responsible for teaching elementary, middle school, and high school grade levels. It was a very rewarding job and gave me experience in many different areas in education. I have always been fascinated by numbers and how the analysis of numbers can be used in nearly everything we do. I have a MBA from a top 20 program that has helped me further develop my mathematical skills in statistics and calculus. I have helped tutor children in various after-school volunteer programs and was a paid tutor while in undergrad and grad school. While the tutoring ran the gamut, I tended to focus on math (algebra, stats), finance/accounting and writing (typically logical essays not creative writing).
