A Little Bit About Me...

Through my volunteer work with church organizations I have over five years of experience mentoring others, which has given me an excellent understanding of the need for quality educators. I worked as a teacher in Kansas before moving to Oklahoma, where I currently work at a local Boys and Girls Club. There tutoring is a part of the daily activities and youth in various grade levels ask for help with numerous subject matter. As an honor's student who tutored other student athletes I was driven to continue on and receive a Graduate level education. Although English came very easy to me so did Computers and programming so I chose to receive my Bachelor in Business Administration and a Master in Management Information Systems. A Little Bit About Me...

I find it rewarding to teach children and adults the necessary skills that allow them to obtain full English literacy. One of the greatest accomplishments in the course of the educational process is the acquisition of full, quality literacy; it is the foundation. Consequently, I prefer a step-by-step, pragmatic method of teaching English language skills: phonics, words, syllables, consonants, verbs, sentences, punctuation, grammar, etc.
As a long-term adjunct instructor, I have successfully cultivated an effective set of best teaching practices relative to the English language and Communications. I make every conscious attempt to relate to my students as individuals and to meet their educational needs. Teaching has been a motivation for me for all of my working life. I have experienced the joys of my student's successes at the high school level and then on to their university courses or in their own work experiences. It is important to explain and have students experience learning from a number of different angles. Each day involves reading, speaking, listening and writing in the target language. The more senses involved, the better a student can grasp a skill.
I have taught French and German in both public and private schools from grades 1 through the college level for over 30 years. My most recent experience was in a public high school, grades 9-12, where I taught for 25 years. I have a bachelors and a masters degree in French literature with a minor in German and am National Board Certified in French. I have also taught humanities and am certified in world civilizations.
