A Little Bit About Me...

I teach English as a Second Language in the evenings to adult immigrants in the Wichita area. This is a very rewarding experience; the students are eager to learn, and grateful for all I can share with them. My reputation as a good teacher has resulted in some individual requests for private tutoring. One family has called upon me to tutor their sons in grammar and reading comprehension, as well as to help them with various papers as they progressed through middle school, high school and college coursework. My qualifications include an M.A. degree in Education, and a B.A. degree in Psychology. My experience is varied; in addition to teaching, I have worked many years as a Program Consultant for the Kansas Department of Corrections.

Teaching, in some form, has been a part of my life for the last 20 years. During that time I discovered for myself that students learn in different ways. More About This Tutor...

Since my previous experience has been working with fairly non-traditional students, I would like to find a similar position. I have applied for several positions that have opened up in public schools and other agencies. I would like to see if I could work with younger children and adults and or with special needs students. Another area of interest would be teaching upper level mathematics and science courses in a small town school. Another interest, that I have is to teach developmental mathematics and other skills in college. I am also interested in teaching in a correctional facility as well.
