My style is to take the subject matter and make it understandable and tangible to the student the best way possible, through the student's learning style. My matter-of-fact approach to lessons allows for getting the most out of the time allotted, while instilling the joy and magic that music brings to the world. Coming from a family of teachers, the importance of education has always been stressed to me. The emphasis was placed not only on succeeding academically, but also to gain a true understanding of the subject matter. I hold an Associates of Applied Science in Community Service and Leadership and graduated Magna Cum Laude. I also hold a Bachelors of Science in Family Studies with a concentration on early childhood education and graduated Summa Cum Laude. I have an extensive knowledge of reading, writing and grammar and have always scored well into the 90th percentiles on standardized tests in these areas. I use a variety of teaching styles and methods for children. I use various styles of music, composers and performers in lesson plans. Currently I am using books on music and musicians as part of my lesson plans. I believe literature is extremely important in teaching children. I am direct with children in my classroom. I give them expectations, I set goals, and I follow through. It is important for an instructor to state exactly what is expected of the student in order to help them achieve their goals.

I have a BA in Microbiology and an MA in Zoology. I have 7-8 years experience teaching biology, ecology, microbiology and environmental science at the college level. In addition I have many years experience in software engineering, technical writing, software quality assurance, and technical editing.
