A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with adults. I prefer a one on one direct instruction and mentoring, keeping everything simple and fun. I am not sure how well I would be with children; I have none of my own and have not spent much time with my nephews and nieces. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a substitute teacher for the last 7 years at Groesbeck ISD working mainly with the high school area, and some at the middle school. I also teach an adult student at a local plant working on his GED. I am the primary instructor there. I write for several online freelance article sites and am paid to do that as well. I have passed my EC-12 Special Education test and also my Generalist 4-8 and am considered Highly Qualified in those 2 areas. My goal when working with students is to fully describe the steps necessary to solving various classes of problems, often in an outline form, for it is in learning these steps that a student becomes an independent learner. I like to work through as many examples as the student needs, gradually working them into the problem-solving process, until they are able to work a few completely on their own, or, in some way, demonstrate understanding of the material. Of course, this method is a little easier to employ in one on one tutoring sessions, but even with my work in the classroom, I feel student participation is crucial to the learning environment.
