With over 20 years experience as an educator I have taught, tutored, and trained students from pre-school to adults. I hold an MA in Education and Counseling, a BA in Socialpsychology and an AA in Early Childhood Education. and two teaching credentials - k-8 and adult. I am a credentialed teacher and for the past three years I have taught grades k-12. My academic strengths are English - reading, writing, and literature, Spanish, elementary/junior high math, science, and social studies.
I teach to the child and motivate them to do better through their natural desires to achieve and to seek approval. I believe in postive reinforcement that is linked to realistic and attainable goals. Building relationship with children and their families is the best tool I know for helping children learn. I see children as a part of the greater systems of family and community. I believe it truly takes a village to raise children and that cooperation among the adults that impact them the most- family, including all members of the extended family, teachers, friends, religious and other community leaders - ensures a child's success. It is my goal to make a positive difference in every child's life.
