Not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire

I am a homeschool mother of four, including two dyslexic students that I have been individually tutoring for four years using the Barton Reading & Spelling System. Prior to that I taught third grade in the public school system for three years. I continue to hold a current Virginia teaching license and further my own education and professional development by pursuing opportunities to learn more about educational philosophies and methods.
Orton-Gillingham Approach (multisensory, structured, sequential, cumulative) I am currently completing the Dyslexia Certificate Program through Dyslexia Training Institute.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a College graduate, I was dedicated to the advancement of myself and others. I have earned a degree in Mass Communications, yet have had the opportunity to Substitute Teach, be a Para-Professional, and also teach at-risk student in a one-on-one setting as a Homebound Instructor for 2 years. These experiences have garnered a sense of urgency within me to reach as many students who are at risk; students who often lack the background to challenge them to complete their education. I have taught these students in various subjects including, History, Math, Science, and English.
I love reaching students who are often overlooked due to their lack of mobility and interest to learn in a classroom setting.
