I have worked with children for over 15 years. During this time I have provide homework help and tutoring in Math, Reading and Spanish. The children that I have worked with range in age from 5 to 17 years old. I have also done an extensive amount of work with infants and toddlers in the field of early learning as a nanny. My experience in working with children of so many ages has helped me to know what steps to implement in order to make children feel comfortable and confident while addressing challenges to learning materials. I have always enjoyed math and reading as a student and spent a short period of time studying Spanish abroad. My comments on tutoring Elementary Math : I have taught elementary math for thirty years in various grades from Kindergarten to sixth grade.

I use a combination of both online games and Websites and hands-on manipulatives. First, I like for the student to take multiple intelligence tests and then I know how best to help the student. The information I gain from the analysis is extremely informative. It tells me where the students' strengths lie such as some students are musically inclined, some are visual learners, auditory learners, some are mathematicians and various other styles. Then, the style that they learn through the best is how I would teach the student; this is based on Gardner's Multiple Intelligence. Second, meeting the standards are essential in today's education system. The four C's of the 21st century is also necessary for students' to learn. They are collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity.

My comments on tutoring Elementary Math : I have been studying Elementary Education for the past four years. One of my courses was all about teaching Math to my students. For this course I created games for teaching Math, and have been using the games for the students that I tutor ever since. I have found that students love to learn about Math if it is the form of a game.

I have a very Hands-On Teaching Style
I have been working with children for the past seven years. Four of those years have included homeschooling pre-school and pre-kindergarten as well as homework help and tutoring the children that I was babysitting. I love tutoring because it allows me to work one-on-one with my students. Teaching is a difficult task. Everyone learns at a different pace and on their own level. Some students are quick learners and their teacher only needs to go over the lesson once; other students need to hear the subject content in a different form to understand it. Having said that, I can't explain my teaching style as a cut and dry formula. The skill level of each student and the way they process information will determine how I will present them with questions and explanations.
