I have a strong background in math and science, which I have used to be what I consider to be an effective teacher and tutor for the last ten years. I enjoy teaching and feel a great deal of responsibility for my students and their success.
My style of teaching is very involved in the students' success. I make every attempt to relate to them and work through any difficulties they may run into in the learning process. I also try to acknowledge accomplishments and communicate with them the level of pride I feel at their successes.

As a Masters graduate from one of the nation's top schools, Washington University in St. Louis, with a 3.72 Cumulative undergraduate GPA, I know what is needed to succeed in academics. My specialties include : *English*: I have excelled in 10 English/communication courses and am adept at grammar, reading, and writing. *Psychology*: I have excelled in 11 university Psychology courses and taken part in 3 Psychology based research studies. *Math*: With a Masters in Business, I have taken many graduate level math courses.

My teaching style focuses on collaboration with the student, ensuring that knowledge is recieved organically, and not forcibly. Having been a student myself, I understand the importance of appealing to a child's sensibilities and multiple intelligences; not every child learns in the same way. A Little Bit About Me...

I approach teaching and tutoring as an exercise in problem solving. It requires assessment of the student's background, previously mastered skills, learning style, and engagement with the content. I believe that anyone can be taught anything; the key is developing an engaged, encouraged student with the fundamental knowledge to grasp the concepts at hand. Sometimes this requires remediation of specific skills. Other times, a student needs to understand the big picture so concepts can take root. Some students may require a visual demonstration while others master concepts best by diving head first into the content and asking questions when they arrive at a sticking point. I believe my flexibility and breadth of experiences and interests help me to connect to each student.
