I studied creative writing at the SC Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville SC. There I studied poetry, play writing, grammar, editing, fiction, and creative nonfiction. I won two national scholastic writing awards for my writing. I also studied at Rice University which is a highly selective university in Houston Texas. I majored in sociology and also took many intensive English classes. While a student at Rice, I tutored several of my peers in both sociology and english. I also tutored several international students who needed assistance drafting essays in english. I began my teaching career by completing a two year course of study in Early Childhood and then worked as both a teacher and as a Director at a Parent Cooperative Day School until my own children were in Middle School. At this point I returned to College and graduated with a BS in Psychology and a minor in English. I continued on and received a NC teaching license from UNCG. I found my tutoring skills when my High School aged son was home bound by an illness and I home schooled him for most of his High School Years. He graduated from the University of VA with a PhD. recently and attributed his success in College to his home tutoring by his mother. I currently volunteer as a tutor for Americorp.

I love to teach young children. I also love to teach growing adults as well and think its best for a relaxing teaching style. I use games and rhymes to help the children stay focus and have fun while tutoring.
As a college graduate, I was very much driven to achieve a high level of education. I studied different types of literature from women's, middle eastern, and african american as well. I also have four years of speaking spanish and learning the offical lanuage in college and very good at conversational spanish as well.
