I am passionalte about writing and have taught in K-12 for over 10 years. I have vast experience teaching writing at both high school and college level. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a deep passion for learning, and it's always my goal not only to help students learn skills but to find their inner motivation too. I currently work as a substitute teacher, and I appreciate the chance I have to see the best of what teachers and paraprofessionals are using in the classroom and how they help their students. I have much experience students of all ages with their homework and projects as a nanny, babysitter, and older sister of four. I was also a certified therapeutic riding instructor, so I taught individuals with disabilities to ride horses. I was a top student myself, and I have a B.A. in English with a minor in history. To be honest I have no experience in teaching outside of the college setting. The two years marked denotes my two years in upper division English classes at SVSU where student critiquing was the norm. Beyond helping my friends with their papers I took several classes on teaching and as such have academic experience, but not real world (ie K-12) experience. I have been in several writing workshops that cover a variety of English facets from research writing to creative writing to poetry. This spanned the second two years of my college career. I have also written stories of my own and had them critiqued by teachers and students, so I know firsthand what frustrations can result.

I graduated from Saginaw Valley State University with a degree in Secondary Education and am certified in the State of Michigan to teach 6-12th grade English and math. Along with completing student teaching, I have substitute taught in various districts as well as tutored homeschool students. I volunteer at my church as a Sunday School teacher, and during college I participated as a conversation partner in the English as a Second Language program.
