My comments on tutoring Entrance Exams : I started teaching six years ago and gradually started getting a lot more students than I had anticipated mainly because of my methods and explaining the most difficult areas in simplest ways. I use everyday examples to explain difficult topics and have taught students from a wide range of background for many examination boards including AQA, EDEXCEL,OCR, MEI, IB, JEB, CIE, WJEC,etc. As well as this I have also tutored students who are home schooled. I do past papers with students from the last 10-15 years and I make sure that my students knows all the exam solving techniques thoroughly and have complete knowledge to master the subject. I have taught more than 350 students all across UK majority (85-90%) achieving A grades

Tutoring Approach: I like to tailor my tuition depending on the student's individual needs as I understand and respect that each student is unique. The first step I take in my approach to tutoring new students is to understand and assess their strengths and weaknesses. I use different styles and methods of teaching depending upon the student's ability and attitude. My main method is to first listen to the student's problems and help them to come to the correct solutions making sure that they understand and are involved in each and every step. I give my students the necessary confidence to ask me questions without any hesitation and often use everyday life experiences to explain subjects. I am inclined to use the reduction method . i.e. breaking down a large problem to small parts in order to make it understandable when I feel its appropriate . This method is particularly effective wh ... read more

Because I enjoy and see the wonder in science and I like to show that to students. If they see a reason to want the knowledge, and see how it can expand their horizons, then they will be more open to learning. A common problem with individuals needing tutoring is that they sometimes do not think they have the "smarts" to learn the subject. My first objective is to show them they have the "stuff" to get it! Then I show them how it can be fun. This needs to be balanced with the practical need to get passing grades and complete the course work. My style is marked with a belief in the student and I encourage them and acknowledge their progress.

My teaching style is professional, friendly, and peer to peer. I like to break things down for students and I encourage them to ask a lot of questions. I try my best to gauge how the student learns and teach them 'tricks' based on their learning style for committing what was taught to memory. Lastly, I try to build confidence in my students- from what I've seen, that's the key to success. I believe that people inherently know how to express themselves and have it in them to grasp complex concepts easily, it is just a matter of a little guidance.
My educational and professional experience are both concentrated on writing. More narrowly, analytical writing and legislative reporting. My experience tutoring on writing goes back to when I was part of a volunteer peer program, tutoring English as a second language students to assist them with mastering the English regents. My teaching style is to discovery how each child learns, whether it is visual, audio, movies, written, tactile, CD's, adaptive technology, and re-learning. I want my students to have success and become life-long learners while providing them with the tools that help them reach their potential. Learning is an experience that should be enjoyed and given praise, compassion, kindness, and consistency helps one learn and discover their academic success. I have made many differences in student's lives, as they have taught me learning experiences that I will never forget. I am expressive, funny, and love to teach.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love being able to teach someone something new. I love learning, but have always been a visual learner, so whether I'm teaching someone how to read, or simply helping them improve their reading skills, I introduce visual aids. I am patient, easy going and a great listener. When it comes to teaching/tutoring/mentoring, I have always been very hands on. I strive to create an environment where the pupil feels comfortable and he or she is excited to learn.
I graduated Cum Laude from Manhattan College with a double major in Psychology and Communications. In addition to studying for two majors, I was also a Division 1 athlete and held 2 jobs. Seeing as I was very busy with extracirricular activities, I believe that my graduating with honors was truly a testament to how hard I worked. A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate from the State University of New York at Albany, I am driven to achieve the highest level of excellence in education especially in the following generations. I have received a BA in Chemistry and Pre-Med. These degrees have enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of science, math, and english. In addition, I have learned extensive health and grammatical skills due to writing research papers and laboratory reports, along with essays in many various areas of study. During the last three years I have tutored students in English, Mathematics, and Science.
The best teaching style in my opinion, explains how to research, plan and write essays, gives students time to practice these skills in class, and ensures students get feedback on how well they have done on each sub-skill. Students learn skills by using them in a realistic, subject-specific context, and in a ... read more

While I was an undergraduate, volunteering was very important to me. One of the places I volunteered was an after school program for children who live in Hamilton Hill. While I volunteered there I helped many of them with there homework as well as extra reading and writing to help improve those skills. I found that my psychology major as well as my education and english minors were very useful and helpful to help tutor in all subjects.
I love working with children. I was involved in girl scouts from first grade all the way to 12th grade and in those years I learned a lot of leadership skills. I am very patient and want to provide education to anyone that needs it. When I was in school I often struggled with school work, so I learned many different techniques to learn how to learn.

I believe in challenging a student to do more than they were aware they could do - I have consistently found that individuals give themselves less credit than they deserve. I believe in making a lesson relevant to a student - keep it abstract and it will remain difficult, but bring it home and they will own it. I am excellent at distilling the basic lessons within a topic into take-home messages that give the student more than merely a list to memorize; they get actual working knowledge that will not erode so quickly from memory. I can communicate at many different levels, and am sincere about sharing my love of learning. I believe in the scientific method as a key to intellectual and technological progress, and in the inherent robustness of truth. But the foundation of my philosophy is that each individual, as well as his or her community, is improved through learning. Each individual i ... read more

I spent several years in my last job role developing and implementing a training program on budgeting, cost reporting and government compliance for low-level fiscal staff working on community service providers in New York City; often English competency of these staffers was low. I believe in the "practice makes perfect" approach, especially when it comes to math, science, and language study. That said, I also believe that practice can be interesting, fun, encouraging and reinforcing. I would hope to help a student figure out how to learn and approach new challenges with confidence and enthusiasm. Sometimes what a child needs most is to simply understand that he or she is capable of achieving. Instilling self-affirmation is an extremely important part of teaching, and that would be my goal in working with your child.
