I prefer to use fundations with the younger students. Learning each letter and its sound is a critical base. I also like the tapping method used with fundations. After learning each letter and its sound children can tap out each sound to figure out a word. There are trick words like: the, was, of...etc that we use flash cards for. This method worked well with my own son. He was being taught to read using pictures. Over christmas vacation during his kindergarten year we worked using fundations and he gaind four reading levels in a week and a half.

Every one can learn. Sometimes an individual learns in their own unique style and finding that style is the key to teaching them. I enjoy working with both children and adults. I would say that my teaching style involves having an inexhaustible supply of patience which allows me to identify a student's strengths and build on them.
