I have been able to combine different teaching strategies to fit the needs of my students. In Arizona I taught Fourth Grade where 80% of my studens were English Language Learners of Hispanic decent. This was a real leaning experience. I took the Dibels training which really helped my teaching techniques. Using Orton-Guillingham guidelines with the hundreds of hours of teacher training allowed my students to excel. Over the past four years I have taught a variety of science courses, including biology, AP biology, chemistry, AP chemistry, advanced science middle school elective and a biology methods course at Eastern Michigan University. This vast array of classes has given me an opportunity to work with students from grade seven up through the college level. I have been at Pennfield High School for almost 6 months now and I have learned how to incorporate the new standards into the curriculum. I am currently teaching part time in the Mathematics department, teaching the subjects of Geometry and Algebra. I also have spent 5 years working for the Carman Ainsworth School District as an At-Risk tutor. I have had to lower myself to the students’ level of understanding to make the subject of Mathematics make sense to each individual student. Al though I have never technically tutored or taught a child writing, I am interested in helping aid a child's learning experience. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education with emphasis on Biological Sciences and Earth Sciences. I was a teacher in the public school system for 6 years. I taught Science from grade 7 through senior level, encompassing Life Science, Earth Science, Physical Science, Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Physics. I went on to Medical School, where I got my Degree in Osteopathic Medicine. During Medical School, I was a tutor at Greenbrier Community College in the areas of Math and Science.
