I think lots of modeling and review of the concepts being taught is essential. I want the student to observe the modeling and then for me to guide them through the learning of the concepts. Students should be fully engaged in order to gain a full understanding.
I have been tutoring all subjects K-8 for over 15 years. I am a certified teacher and currently teach 6th grade. I worked at Sylvan Learning Center for over a year before becoming a private tutor. As a native French speaker who graduated from the University of Kansas with a Master in Urban Planning and a BA in Political Science. I have tutored students in French and English as a second language. Prior to obtaining my BA, I tutored high school students for a year in Kansas City. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always enjoyed interacting with children of all ages. I currently serve as a paraprofessional (teacher's aide) at an inner - city elementary school. During my three years in this position, it has become extremely apparent that all children....no matter their abilities....are capable of reaching their full potential. It is simply a matter of adapting my teaching style to their learning strengths.
