I truly enjoy teaching. I am very easy going and I can make subjects easy to learn. Since I have an engineering background, I have the tendency to break complex problems into smaller parts. Subject material can be confusing and very intimidating. I speak from experience. When I tutor students, I ask where they feel they need the most help and where they are doing well, to help them with their uncertainties and increase their confidence. Instead of just giving the students the answers, I will show them where to find the answers. Once the student works out the problem with I, I instruct the student to try a similar problem without my help, to deepen their grasp of the material, and to show them they can do it. Sometimes, all a student needs is a reminder, and everything comes together.

A Little Bit About Me...

I consider myself a 'people-person'. I coached youth sports for 10 years and enjoy working with kids. I am a relaxed, creative and centered teacher. Kids want to learn; in sports, academics and in life in general. They also want to have fun and be excited about it. I believe I make this possible. Our 5 year old is autistic and cognitively delayed. We have been successful at making learning fun, even for her.
With my degree in communications I am very confident in my ability to explain clearly, ideas and lessons. My career has been in sales and design of educational interiors. This role of 20 years has drawn from and strengthened my writing and oral skills. I have four kids ages 8mo, 5, 7, 14. We home school our 14 year old. I am also very involved in our 7 year old's schoolwork and homework.
