I believe each student is different and as such, each should be handled differently. My more than six years of tutoring experience provided me extensive background on students characters and approaches in better presenting the subject matter. At the end of the day, it is important that the student has learned and is ready in tackling subject topics.
Since I graduated with a BS in Environmental Science, I had been a high-school tutor for more than 6 years helping students in the subjects of Math and Science, specifically, Algebra, Geometry, Physics, and Biology. A Little Bit About Me...

I like to teach individual or group lessons. At college of the Desert, I had a reputation for being an easy going with a lot of patience when tutoring. My teaching philosophy is to listen to the student and to focus in his or hers needs. I use scientific or graphic calculators when needed. Also, I use computer software to accelerate their learning experience.
I have been in school the last 10 years. I earned two Liberal Arts degrees in 2005. I also earned a BS in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona in 2009. During my college years, I tutored college level math and college level physics. I also worked for a private tutoring company in Montclair, CA. My specialty are Math, Chemistry and Physics. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from University of California Riverside and received my bachelor's degree in Mathematics. Not only I gain more understanding in Math, I also spent most of my time with my fellow classmates helping each other for our Math assignments in college. During the spring 2010, I tutored one student who is struggling in Algebra 1 and helped her pass the class.
I love Math, and I would love to have the opportunity to teach children and adults especially students from k-12th grade who are struggling in Math. My teaching style would be to teach Math as simple and understandable as possible. I would also make my teaching style to be fun but my priority is to tutor students to be successful in their education.

While at the community college, I administered practice test for students in MESA in mathematics (Calculus 1,2,3, and 4) while also working the maximum of 20 hours a week in the campus math lab (walk-in tutoring). Furthermore, I attended and graduated from UCLA with a bachelor's degree in physics and a minor in mathematics and finished the necessary coursework to apply to all medical school programs in to the country. I tutored for side money while attending UCLA. Currently, I'm a graduate student at SDSU. I'm two courses and a Master's thesis away from receiving my Master's degree in Physics.

I retired last year (2008) after 30 years as a Public Servant (law enforcement) with the City of San Diego. I have also retired from the Naval Reserve as a Master-At-Arms Chief in 2006. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a straight-A student my entire life and I recently graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a 4.0 GPA. I earned my B.S. in Physics (Astronomy emphasis) with a minor in Applied Mathematics. Though my expertise lies in mathematics and the sciences, I am also knowledgeable in topics ranging from history to English grammar and composition. Much of my academic success is due to my ability to prepare for exams. I scored a 32 on the ACT, as well as perfect scores of 800 on the SAT2 Writing and GRE Mathematics exams. I gained teaching-related experience during my year as an Instructional Assistant, in which I assisted students with math, science, English, and GED exam preparation. At the college level, I spent 2.5 years tutoring in physics, math, and astronomy, as well as a semester in a college-level general physics class working as a teaching assistant.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy use of the Socratic Method but recognize that in the sciences a more pragmatic process is required. Over the years I have concluded that good teaching requires good analysis of which particular approach works for a student and then alter the materials to fit the need.
I completed my MBA and Juris Doctorate while employed full time, married with two children. It has given me insight into the learning process and what is or isn't a distraction. I have taught over 20 years in several community colleges a full range of business subjects while employed in the accounting function. In addition, I published and managed a Law Review and later a sports magazine nationally.

Learning is cultivated when a child’s best effort makes them successful and mistakes are seen as stepping stones towards a goal. Teachers must set high expectations for their students as well as inspire students to have high expectations of themselves. For teachers, a positive attitude is a must. Constructivist teachers engage students in experiences that bring understanding to students, rather than share their own understandings. I firmly believe that the most effective way to educate students to their highest levels, they must participate in hands-on activities which promote active involvement and problem solving. Higher order thinking skills and the ability to think critically is the key to developing thriving members of society.
I have been working in the education field since my senior year of high school, where I discovered my passion in a ROP class. Since then I have earned ... read more
