I love working with young people and sharing my knowledge and love of learning with them. I enjoy learning from them and hearing about their ideas, interests, and abilities. I find it easy to connect with students and quickly build a rapport with them. I am extremely patient, and it is very rare that I feel any sense of frustration when working with kids. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always wanted to teach. While in high school, I spent half of my school day being a teacher's assistance at an elementary school. I started my college experience at Adams State College in the Education department. During my initial years in college, I completed multiple teaching courses including: Intro to Education, Teaching Exceptional Students in a Regular Classroom, and Child Development. I changed degrees to broaden my opportunities but never lost my desire to teach. With my bachelor's degree in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics, I learned to break down complex concepts into understandable pieces. A Little Bit About Me...

As a classroom teacher I quickly learned to engage each student individually. I prefer tutoring because I can tailor my instruction to a specific student. Children have different learning styles so it is my responsibility as the instructor to adapt lessons to maximize learning for each child. Ideally I am able to guide a student to realize concepts in their own terms rather then dictate facts to them.
I recently completed two years of teaching Physical Science in a secondary school in Namibia as a Peace Corps volunteer. Prior to that I earned a BS in Computer Science which included a mathematics minor and courses in physics and chemistry. I tutored throughout my time in the Peace Corps, my undergraduate studies and my high school years.
