Gifted math tutor wants to help your student enjoy math!

I have been a private math tutor since 2008. I have been a tutor for WinShape Homes since 2008 as well. I taught math at a Unity Christain School from 2097-2008. I taught pre-algebra, algebra, algebra II, geometry, and Precalculus. I taught remedial math for 2 semesters at Shorter University, and I taught in the adult education program teaching GED math at GA Northwestern Technical College.
I have a gift for working with students who struggle. I know where they are going to trip up and I am prepared to answer the questions that they do not even know they will have! I know at least 3 or 4 different ways to explain different concepts so if your student does not understand one way, I have another way. I enjoy teaching math because its something you use in every day life. When it comes to math, I am easy going and patient because I know how stressful math can be if you are struggling with it. I have a BS in Physics for the City College of the City of New York, with a strong minor in mathematics. I have been in programming for over thirty years. I attended MTSU and received a bachelor’s degree in Biology. After college I worked at a food-microbiology lab in Nashville for a year. I plan to teach science in Africa with the Peace Corps for two years. I am very capable in most areas of math and science. I am also outgoing and easy to get along with.
First I would like to get to know the student and parents, focusing mainly on the student's interests and goals as well as how they feel about the particular subject they will be tutored in. After that I would have the student show me where they currently are in class and what they need help with.
