Dedicated student projecting skills onto others

I take a hands on approach to teaching. The best way to learn is by using a three step program. 1) Explain and project the information onto the student, 2) Work the problem out with the student, and 3) Supervise as the student attempts the problem individually. If necessary, I can assign useful problems for the student to complete.
I am an engineering student at Marietta College. I have a strong background of Mathematics all the way up to Differential Equations. I am able to drive to your home, meet you on campus or even a library. I attended a highly selective boarding school in Delaware where my learning and group think skills were developed. I have had to balance extracurricular activities with school for many years and I understand how instrumental a tutor can be in the learning process.

Over the past three years, I have tutored more than 40 undergraduate students in various capacities. Not surprisingly, my teaching style has varied quite a bit depending on my audience. Getting students to focus and engaging them in conversations that would get them interested in this subject has been the key. Dissecting a problem down to basic concepts and then explaining it in a simplified fashion has been my style and that has helped my students quite a bit. My teaching style is very hands on. I understand that students learn in a variety of ways. Some are hands on, and need to actually get their hands on the project to understand. Some learn by seeing it. They have to see it and then maybe write it and learn by visualizing. Some learn by listening. They can listen to a lecture and hang on to every word. I understand that all children are different, and therefore lessons have to be taylored to fit each child's learning needs. I love children and enjoy teaching. When I was teaching in a public school, I was very well liked by both children and parents. I was there for every child; not just the good ones. My goal was to take the child that other teachers talked negatively about in the lunchroom and show them that I had no problems with that same child. Teachers should not stereotype. Every child equally deserves a quality education.
