I have brought 2 learning disabled teens into my home to help them graduate High School. Both have gone on to be Certified Welders. I have presided over the Parental Acceptance Committee for both Fremont and all five of WSOS HeadStart Counties and all the centers in the School Districts of those counties. I believe that no two students learn alike and the most important thing is to make sure students are having fun with learning. If learning is looked at as boring or hard students will try to avoid it, when learning is fun students learn without realising the work involved. Teaching Science and Math requires that the student understand each step in order to understand a concept. Each student is unique requiring more help in one area than another. When teaching I have always insured that the student is competent with the basic concepts and then we move on to more complicated concepts. Chemistry, Physics and Math are visual and I work from text and paper and pencil to explain concepts. In addition there are many ways to solve math and science problems. I work with the student to find which type solution works best for them. Lastly, reading and testing in math and science is different than the humanities, I have been able to teach students how to take tests and find important information while reading.
