During my years as an undergraduate student I took on extensive study habits that included working in study groups and tutoring other classmates who were struggling with material. In my undergraduate experience I have acquired the knowledge and skills necessary to comprehend extensive material including math, physics, chemistry, and life sciences. As an honors student I was required to speak in front of large groups of people and explain complex subjects in areas that I had researched. Teach a man to fish...is for life. Tutoring is the same, especially with younger children. I haven't met a student yet who is unable to learn. A Little Bit About Me...

After graduation I taught English for 28 years. During this time I became a Dept. Head. I also was trained to train teachers in learning styles and hemisphericity. I have adult AD/HD. I began working on teaching methods for AD/HD students. I have also trained over 200 teachers. I have tutored students for the GED, ACT, SAT, LSAT, and MCAT.
I believe strongly in approaching each child with a variety of techniques. I let the child explore why, then give concept information. The student then needs to practice, and finally personalize the information. This must be done using both analysis (left brain) and synthesis(right brain).

Even though I have been very active in the performing arts, teaching is my primary passion. I received a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Music from the College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati. However, I completed a Ph.D. in Education at the University of Florida in 1990. I was a full-time special needs teacher at Oak Park School in Sarasota, Florida from 1998 until 2006. I was responsible for teaching elementary, middle school, and high school grade levels. It was a very rewarding job and gave me experience in many different areas in education.
