I believe teaching is about learning instead of the outcome. I practice "learning by doing" where they create their own style and way of accomplishing the task based on age appropriate methods and ways that work for them. It is not about the final product, but rather how they get to the proposed finish. Kids will go as far as you push them and typically exceed ones expectations.
I began as an education major at the University of Central Oklahoma before switching to Oklahoma Baptist University. I have worked with children in a professional setting since 2004 in church, non profit, daycare, early childhood, and preschool settings. I value education and find it to be a crucial and vital part of child development. I have tutored autistic students, as well as taught preschool for 14 months both at Saint Dunstans Preschool and Holland Hall College Preparatory School.

In my classroom I had activity with structure. I encouraged my students to think for themselves to solve problems rather than depending on me to think for them. They were allowed to have the freedom to make mistakes, and to have courage to try new material. I cushioned them by allowing them to have time to think, to go at their own speed, and to work hands on with learning partners. We had opportunities each day to work as a team, and we built personal responsibility for homework, daily assignments, classroom behavior and citizenship.
