A Little Bit About Me...

I have recently learned to incorporate meaning-centered philosophy (Viktor Frankl) to my teaching with a Portfolio methodology. I use these methods with a dynamic demeanor and with positive re-inforcement remarks on their papers.I learned Portfolio method at the Junior College and have significant results with it. For me, there is no greater passion than to impart to students the desire to want to learn; particularly, when they do the research. I have always wanted to be the professor or teacher children remember.
I tutored English composition in the writing lab as work-study for St. Petersburg Junior College to assist financial aid for my Associates degree. As an engineer and attorney, I have tutored while a student in college and while mentoring technician candidates as they returned to school to obtain associate degrees in technical subjects. I also undertook to write a sylabus and class concept for two new classes on technical subjects that I had approved and taught at Massachusetts Bay Community College. In college I tutored students in Math, Chemistry, Physics and Engineering subjects.

I always want students to feel relaxed in a tutoring session. I adapt my teaching style to each student and encourage them to practice, explore, analyze, and learn from any mistakes. As a tutor, I will create an environment of comfort, and answer questions without causing any embarrassment. I want to restore a student's confidence in learning.
I've tutored at inner-city schools and in one-on-one environments. I have also tutored numerous Russian-speaking adults, children, refugees, and asylees in English through a non-profit organization. This assistace helped them become self sufficient and learn English and American culture. I thoroughly enjoyed that tutoring, and have since become a teacher.
