As an educator there are a variety of beliefs which I hold that make up my personal philosophy of education and style of teaching. I strongly believe in maximizing a student's potential by having them discover their strengths and weaknesses. A Little Bit About Me...

I would describe my teaching style as simple and laid back. I pride myself on my ability to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that allows students to focus on learning. In addition, many of my high school students, as well as peer teachers who I have tutored for the PRAXIS tests, have commented on my ability to break down topics into simple, manageable parts. I believe these two attributes make me an ideal candidate for private tutoring.
My first experience as a teacher came in high school when I held a part-time job at a Kumon Math and Reading Center. I really love teaching and finding different ways of using analogies and similarities to explain difficult concepts. I have been very successful in teaching the sciences and mathematics courses in an understandable way. I believe that everyone is capable of learning the material, it simply needs to be presented in the correct way. Some students are more verbal learners, others are more visual learners. I use plenty of paper to demonstrate ideas and draw diagrams to help make the material more understandable.
