Elementary Phonics is one of my top subjects! Taught phonics to all four of my children (two of which were foreign speaking adopted from Russia and one of whom was dyslexic) until they became proficient readers and now love reading. Also was a literacy volunteer for 12 years for an adult reader. I have home schooled my children for 16 years and all four are in college now. Phonics was used to teach them to read. My youngest learned to read at a young age just watching her older siblings being given phonics lessons (from her high chair in the kitchen).

I have home schooled four children ( two of whom were foreign speaking adopted from Russian) through 12th grade. All four are now in college. Have a graduate degree in library science, the conservation of research materials and fine arts. Teaching is not for everyone, but I knew it was for me when I started student teaching and felt the adrenaline rush of 25 eyes staring up at me for guidance.
