My Physics class had the chance to work with machinery used in vocational careers. I also taught Teacher Cadets, a class for students interested in the field of Education. During the last six-weeks students completed a student teaching experience working with K-12 teachers. My physics students competed in several engineering contests, (paper airplane, egg drop, rubber band car, etc.) which provided several students scholarships. My biology class did soil testing for the local citizens. These are a couple of examples I utilize in my classroom. I want my students to understand the material, not just memorize it. I have twenty years experience teaching biology, environmental science, anatomy and physiology and other life sciences. I was working on a PhD at Louisiana State University, however I realized that I was much happier teaching than doing research and I accepted this teaching position at Southeastern. I would like to return to teaching at a community college rather than do research or teach at a large four year institution. I have always derived great satisfaction from the success of my students. A Little Bit About Me...

Since my graduation from Southeaster Oklahoma State University I substituted on all grade levels from pre-k to 12th grade for 2 years. I long-term substituted first grade from January to May of 2008 and 5th grade from April to May of 2007. I also taught 5th grade Science for the school year of 2008-2009. Substituting has enabled me to see the different learning styles and behaviors of many different types of children. I use this knowledge whenever stepping into unfamiliar classes and use it to my advantage.
