I don't have the certification to be a teacher but I have been student teaching since seeking a degree in biology. I love working with students. I substituted after graduation and realized I loved teaching. In college I was asked to tutor for my instructors. My classmates came over to my house to study. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ole Miss in 99'. I taught 2nd and 5th grade before going to Falkner to teach Special Ed. in grades 9-12. I helped prepare students for state tests. I co-taught in Eng. and Alg. I also taught MS Studies, W.Geog., U.S. History, Drama, Eng. II, U.S. History, Journalism, Tutorial and ACT prep also. I have experience in math and science as well. The role of the teacher is to be a facilitator. The teacher facilitates the students in making personal decisions as well as participates in discussions that affect society. The teacher also helps build a foundation in subject matter to help develop a lifelong appreciation and understanding of the world through different disciplines.
In May of 2010, I successfully completed my fourth year of teaching. Each year has been different. The children of today learn in many different ways. There has been a change in learning styles over the course of time. Some children may learn through hands on activities and modeling, while others learn through lecture.
