I am the founder and president of The Learning Curve of San Antonio, a tutoring service which specializes in math/ science and test taking. All can learn, the difference,some just take a little longer

I have been teaching high school math in the San Antonio Texas Charter system. I was hired as a highly qualified teacher and l recently retired in 2012. I believe all students are capable of learning the materials but unfortunately some students need more time or direction. In my fifteen years as a teacher l never felt like l couldn't help any student learn. My comments on tutoring Geometry : I hold a Masters in Mathematics and a Bachelors in Molecular Biology. My teaching certification is EC-6 and just added ESL certified.

I believe all children learn at there own style and pace and that we as teachers need to find what works for the child and help them build on their strengths in a positive way.
I am a certified teacher and have been teaching for 8 years in elementary school. I began my teaching career by accident leaving the law enforcement field to work initially part-time as a teacher. However I really enjoyed working with children and found that I was good at it. Over the years it has been nice to hear both parents, teachers, and children comment that I have made a difference in their lives and that I have helped make them the young people that they are shaping to be. Many children and parents have said that while I was tough I have helped them stay in school and become A students. This motivates me to continue to do my best in my job and for the kids.

My comments on tutoring Geometry : Experienced

While attending California State University of San Bernardino and working on my bachelors degree in mathematics I had many opportunities to gain experience. I was a private tutor which included students from elementary, middle, and high school. One child I tutored, who was in middle school, was very bright but had ADHD and it was difficult for him to concentrate. I worked with him for about a year and by the time he was ready for high school, he was at the top of his class and was ready to start Geometry in high school. I tutored high schools students through programs such as Upward Bound as well as Inland Counties Mathematics Project.
