While attending California State University of San Bernardino and working on my bachelors degree in mathematics I had many opportunities to gain experience. I was a private tutor which included students from elementary, middle, and high school. One child I tutored, who was in middle school, was very bright but had ADHD and it was difficult for him to concentrate. I worked with him for about a year and by the time he was ready for high school, he was at the top of his class and was ready to start Geometry in high school. I try to fit my teaching style to whatever the student is comfortable with. Basically, I first determine why a student needs to learn a particular concept in terms of the specific course, and then I work with the student to figure out the best way for the student to understand the concept. Because I have worked as a Researcher and Statistical Consultant as well as a Tutor, my first order of business is to determine what the real problem is, i.e., what are the reasons that the student is having trouble with a particular assignment or concept.
