My comments on tutoring Algebra : I have been teaching for 9 years. I do Algebra 1 everyday in some aspect with my students.

I have been teaching since 2004. I have taught in an inner city school ( four years) and I am currently teaching at Churchill High School (fifth year). I understand the struggle students have with mathematics. I understand the frustration when a topic is explained but understanding is not achieved. My goal in tutoring is not to make money, though I charge a fee, but I desire to provide help to students that have difficulty in math. I want to give students the tools necessary to be successful in Algebra, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus. I remember my struggles in math when I was in high school and I realize the importance of clarity of instruction. As a teacher my number one goal is that my students understand the material being taught to the point they can explain it to someone else.

My comments on tutoring Algebra : My math students exceed their class requirements.

I am the founder and president of The Learning Curve of San Antonio, a tutoring service which specializes in math/ science and test taking. I have experience working with many different types of students. On one end, I have worked with outstanding math and chemistry students from some of the best private schools in San Antonio helping them to sharpen their understanding and application of the material. On the other end, I have also helped many struggling students learn some of the harder concepts of algebra, geometry, problem-solving, and chemistry. All of my students have been able to improve their test scores and homework grades.

All can learn, the difference,some just take a little longer

I have been teaching high school math in the San Antonio Texas Charter system. I was hired as a highly qualified teacher and l recently retired in 2012. I believe all students are capable of learning the materials but unfortunately some students need more time or direction. In my fifteen years as a teacher l never felt like l couldn't help any student learn. My comments on tutoring Algebra : Expert

It is based on how the student learns. I like to explain the subject and then give and help workout examples. I learn by this method and have learned most other students do also, however some students need objects or physical representation, especially in lower level mathematics and I can accommodate every method of learning.
While attending California State University of San Bernardino and working on my bachelors degree in mathematics I had many opportunities to gain experience. I was a private tutor which included students from elementary, middle, and high school. One child I tutored, who was in middle school, was very bright but had ADHD and it was difficult for him to concentrate.
