A Little Bit About Me...

For the last three years I instructed K-12 students in environmental science and outdoor recreation programs, as the executive director of a nonprofit educational partnership. This involved designing and presenting lessons in collaboration with public school teachers. I received a Commissioner's Award from the Maine Department of Education in 2007 for my work with at-risk students. I also serve as the part-time Service Learning Coordinator for a local school district. In years past, I have also taught adult education courses in a foreign language (Norwegian) and in wilderness navigation.

I enjoy teaching and use a variety of different methods. I incorporate different activities into each lesson to reinforce what we have learned. With my younger students I also incorporated a lot of music into the class that helped them with their verb conjugations, pronouns, etc. To keep the students' attention I am always keeping them moving, whether it be with an activity or just simply writing phrases on the board. I encourage them to be speaking in French constantly throughout the class.

As a valued member of the ANA faculty and team I continually worked to lift the standards and proficiency of all the students that I taught both directly and indirectly to prepare them for the rigors of high school and college. As the English Department Chair I mentored and provided leadership to the staff I supervised as well as my fellow colleagues. I earned a BS in Education as well as a Certification in TESL.
