My comments on tutoring Literature : Qualified in this subject by WyzAnt. As an avid reader of classic and modern literature, I am well versed in both American and European literature. At one time I obtained a bookmark from Barnes and Noble Bookstore which listed the 100 most admired works of literature. I had read 86 of those listed.

For the greater part of my life I have been involved in various facets of education. Literature is one of my top subjects!

Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.
After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education. I have been tutoring with Advanced Learners for 1 year and am currently an Adjunct Instructor of Public Speaking at HCC Dale Mabry.

My teaching style is student centered. I believe that in order for the student to grasp the material the lesson needs to be meaning for them. The authoritative teacher is not me. I like to be flexible making accommodations for the student so that they will have an open room to learn, because every student doesn’t learn the same way.
