I take a hands on material approach to learning/teaching. I feel that young students learn best when they can physically learn, such as through blocks/puzzles/interactive learning devices and other similar approaches. I try to let the student use their hands as much as I can to aid in their learning process. I love teaching, Math especially. I have a passion for showing kids how important MAth is in everyday life. Only then they would take down that barrier of "I Dont Need Math" most ofthem have set up. I come from a very diverse background and I enjoy talking about my culture and learning about other cultures. I do not believe in spoon-feeding kids work, meaning that you have to make them responsible for doing the work, because only then they would see the true value in it. I believe in talking through problems using visual ideas and simplified concepts. I prefer teaching with graphics and concepts, and then relating them to formulas and equations. While I expect hard work from my students, I also have the patience to help them understand at their own pace. I am a currently a working civil engineer specializing in bridge design (steel and concrete structures). I received scores of 760 in Math on both the SAT I and II, and a score of 800 in Math on the GRE's. I have taken several high level calculus, engineering mathematics, and statistics classes at the University of Delaware, aside from receiving a 5 on both the Calculus and the Statistics AP Exams.
