I am a College Student studying English and Politics

I was a tutor in high school for many elementary and middle school aged children. I am also experienced with writing papers, so I can help anyone who is writing for a college application or essay. I am a very quick learner, so if there is a subject I am not as familiar with I am willing to study it to help a student. My goal is to help students understand the context being taught, as well as teach them the importance of this knowledge. I have often used the phrase "When will I ever need this?" and I have learned later on in life that each subject is important. This is the messageI want to get across to children, that learning new things is a very important aspect of life.
I am a very firm believer that each human being has a different way of learning. I also believe that each subject has a different way to be taught. I teach based off of my students, as well as the subject.

I do not have a particular style of teaching. I prefer to talk to the individual I am tutoring and together discover the best way to teach them the subject material. I believe that everyone learns information at a different pace and that some information is easier to process than other information. I believe that individuals should be comfortable while learning in order for them to actually learn. I would never force someone to learn "my way" and would work with them on developing a way that works for both of us. I would also focus on teaching proper study habits so the individuals can apply them and possibly not need a tutor in the future.

I believe in good classroom management and organized lesson plans. I set appropriate boundaries and expect the students to follow the rules that are set before them. That being said I try to make the learning as fun as possible but organized. I also try to bring in anything that they are interested in to make them enjoy the subject they are learning. If I can find an example in life they can relate to that will help them learn something I will find it and bring it in. I love working with children and really love math.
