I recently earned my bachelor's degree in English, from Iowa State University. I have always helped friends/peers with English courses, whether it be writing, editing, proofreading, etc. I have also helped many people with music, being a musician myself. I have studied musical theory and played several instruments since I was in elementary school. I would feel most comfortable tutoring in music and English subjects.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is that I believe all students can learn but that there are different learning styles and we must match the correct learning style with the student. I am a very patient teacher who can really connect to students and their parents. I will do all that I can do to see your child grow academically.
At the elementary level I have 2 years experience as a K,1st and 2nd grade combined teacher, three years as a 1st grade teacher and 1 year as combined 1st and 2nd grade teacher. In the area of special education I have taught students from age 3 to 16 with Mental Disabilities for 8 years. As a young R.O.T.C cadet, I was very driven to excel in my college education. On my way to becoming a young Army Officer, I earned two bachelor degrees, BA in Communications and BA in Accoutning. My liberal arts educations granted me opportunities to learn and excel in many arenas such as writing, math, science, and the social sciences. I learned the art of effective communication, writing extensive essays and reports, as well as giving many speeches to audiences of various sizes. A Little Bit About Me...

While I earned my bachelor's degree in communication from Loyola, I also worked as an Academic coach for high school students. I spent a year tutoring students for an academic competition that tested all skill areas including, writing, math, history and science. I spent the summer of 2006 working closely with people with disabilities. I perfected my teaching skills through hands-on learning/teaching techniques.
I believe in setting goals and working to ensure they are accomplished. In my opinion, learning should never feel like a boring chore. The student should be working hard, but enjoying him or herself in the process, and this is when the most efficient and effective learning occurs.
