As a young student in grade school I wanted to be a mathematics teacher. I pursued my goal and became that teacher. I have experience as a high school mathematics teacher for 5 years and adult education mathematics teacher for 22 years. Geometry and Trigonometry was taught to Tool and Die apprentices working towards their journeyman’s certificate. I instructed students in basic arithmetic to make them more knowledgeable doing computations. I enjoy working with students and helping them succeed. Down through the years I have done some tutoring.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a teaching major, I did my student teaching during my last semester of college (in kindergarten and third grade). This was in the spring of 2008. The next fall (2008), I was a substitute teacher for 4 months and then I was hired as a preschool teacher (in January of 2009). I taught as a preschool teacher for 10 months and then went back to substitute teaching (in October 2009) and have been substitute teaching since then. These experiences have taught me how to teach a variety of grade levels (from preschool to 5th grade). My goal is to obtain a full time teaching job and want to do whatever I can until I get one.

Although my BS degree is in Computer Science, I have taken (and passed!) courses in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Engineering - which means I have learned a lot of advanced math. My work as a software developer required writing "white papers" to explain and describe our software as well as test documents that would allow a person unfamiliar with our software to sit down and formally test it.
