Elementary Vocabulary is one of my top subjects! Lessons include using word analysis and context clues for vocabulary development.

My teaching style is one of facilitator. I like to emphasize student-centered learning giving students the responsibility to take the initiative for meeting the demands of various learning tasks. However, I am aware that many times with my regular education students and the students that I tutor, I am a combination of facilitator and demonstrator with an emphasis on demonstration and modeling. I guide students in developing and applying their skills.
I have been teaching in a public school in the Sugar Land area for 27 years. For the past 10 years, I have taught both regular education and GT students in the English Language Arts block. Before I began my professional teaching career, I worked for the Read Across America program helping young learners gain an appreciation for reading. I mentored elementary students who were labeled at risk due to low performance in reading. In 2001, I began teaching pre-k in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
