Before I was able to tutor, I taught 7 year old girls cheerleading. When I began to tutor, I enjoyed being one on one with the child. I am very patient, punctual and considerate. I know children that need extra help need extra time. I find it personally rewarding to supplament a child's education. I also believe it is easier for a child to ask questions when they are one on one with an educator.
Beginning in high school I found myself driven to help children in need. In 2006 I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with concentrations in History and English. In 2008 I received my New York State Teaching Certificate. Starting at the end of 2008 I became a substitute teacher in Liverpool Central Schools and in 2009 for Baldwinsville Central Schools as well. After becoming a substitute teacher I quickly honed many skills in order to be an effective teacher. Each student learns a little differently. My goal is to learn about the student and their interests and incorporate their life and their interests into the lesson as much as possible. In terms of languages, sometimes turning lessons into games can be helpful. I intend to make lessons fun so they are more likely to be remembered!
I have a BA in Spanish Language, Literature, and Culture. I also studied French and Italian during my time in college. I am Brazilian and speak fluent Portuguese as well. To my recollection, all of my averages for language classes were at least 90 overall, and most were in the high 90s - 100. I have studied Spanish for a total of 8 years.
