I am a recent graduate from the College of Saint Rose in Albany. I graduated with a Bachelors in Adolescent Education: Mathematics. I started tutoring my peers during my senior year of high school in 2005. At college I worked in the student learning center as a mathematics tutor.
I loved learning mathematics throughout my college experience and during my student teaching in both high school geometry and college algebra courses I realized that my passion is my strength. I am able to use my knowledge of math beyond where my students are in order to attack the students understanding of the subject from different angles. Because I enjoy and see the wonder in science and I like to show that to students. If they see a reason to want the knowledge, and see how it can expand their horizons, then they will be more open to learning. A common problem with individuals needing tutoring is that they sometimes do not think they have the "smarts" to learn the subject. My first objective is to show them they have the "stuff" to get it! Then I show them how it can be fun. This needs to be balanced with the practical need to get passing grades and complete the course work.
